On May 22 and 23, 2015, Wayne and myself attended and I taught dance at the Interdenominational Inspirational Arts conference held at Glenwood Chapel in Port Carling, Ontario in the Muskokas.
It was an amazing opportunity to gather with other inspirational artists, dancers, visual artists, writers, photographers, dramatist, musicians, singers and a variety of other creative individuals.
The theme was “FEET” and where we are on “the Journey”. This took us all taken out of our comfort zones as we broke open the box and explored the creative nature within each of us. We attended workshops, worship sessions, fellowship and sharing times together. As we created together, new songs, dances, music and written works were developed. The atmosphere was a safe arena to explore and try new things.
On the Saturday night which was open to the general public as well as registered participants, there was a full program of participants sharing their journeys in various mediums. We had a moving writers journey line up that had people experiencing different emotions as they quietly listened, laughed and cried while each piece was read out loud. The dances ranged from expressive modern solos to a group of beginner worship dancers to “Footprints” by Leona Lewis. The music continued with songwriters, singers and musicians all sharing how the notes had carried them along their journey. Visual art was represented by numerous artists and it was enlightening to hear them share their process and how the work of art played a very pivotal part of their path.
The walls were outlined with table displays of sculptures, artwork, jewelry, worship flags and books.
It was a full event and many thanks go to Dave and Deb Carter and their conference team for the invitation and all the extra things they did to make it special for everyone.
